Maemo release 5 to include cellular connectivity for HSPA
Ari Jaaksi reveals that the Maemo “5th release will include cellular connectivity for the High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) data.” This means that the future Maemo MIDs will have integrated support for four wireless access network types (wireless PAN, LAN, MAN and cellular) using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, WiMAX and HSPA. I wonder if they will also have support for IEEE 802.21 and some advanced multiaccess management.
Ryan Paul reports that “Jaaksi said that the user experience is a high priority for Nokia and that the company’s hope for the future is to build devices that outclass the competition while fostering a participatory development model and an open software ecosystem.”
