N96 vs. N95

Just noted that the N96 resembles too much the N95. There is little doubt that the N96 is by far the most advanced device in terms of networking: wireless PAN/LAN/WAN and now DVB.  Slider and GPS/Maps/navigation too. But all these (besides DVB) were available on the N95 as well.  Even the battery capacity (merely 950 mAh) is the same but it is supposed to deliver longer battery life (why?). Alas, there is no touch screen (ala iPhone, Touch et al. ) on N96.

In short, N96 is an evolutionary follow-up on a revolutionary, almost aspirational, N95. The two commercials below make this clear, I think. Here’s the N95 commercial:

“My hero.” “My magic box.” “My window.” “It would change my life.” “It’s the world in your hands. Think about that—it’s the world in your hands.” The release moto? It’s what computers have become.

Now have a look at the N96 commercial:

“Oh, no!” … “Yes! Yoo Hoo!”

The moto? Now everything joins up. I think you get the point.
